The Maestro 2 is a user-friendly OCT + Fundus Camera system that automatically performs alignment, focus and capture with a single touch.ย

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive imaging technique that uses light to create detailed images of the inside of the eye. OCT can be used to diagnose a variety of eye conditions, including dry eye disease.

Dry eye disease is a condition in which the eyes do not produce enough tears, or the tears do not have the right composition. This can lead to symptoms such as eye pain, burning, itching, and blurry vision.

OCT can be used to measure the thickness of the tear film, which is the layer of liquid that coats the front of the eye. A thin tear film is a sign of dry eye disease. OCT can also be used to measure the height of the tear meniscus, which is the curved edge of the tear film that sits on the cornea. A low tear meniscus is another sign of dry eye disease.

In addition to measuring the thickness and height of the tear film, OCT imaging to capture and document other signs of dry eye disease, such as:

  • Corneal staining: This is a condition in which the cornea becomes stained with a dye, such as fluorescein. Corneal staining is a sign of damage to the cornea, which can be caused by dry eye disease.
  • Papillae: These are small bumps that form on the cornea. Papillae are a sign of inflammation, which is often associated with dry eye disease.

OCT is a valuable tool for diagnosing dry eye disease. It can helpย usย to assess the severity of the condition and to monitor the effectiveness of treatment.

Benefits of the Maestro 2 OCT in Dry Eye Treatment

  • Non-invasive: OCT is a non-invasive procedure, which means that it does not require any needles or other instruments to be inserted into the eye. This makes it a safe and comfortable option for patients of all ages.
  • Accurate: OCT is a very accurate imaging technique. It can be used to measure the thickness and height of the tear film with great precision. This allowsย usย to accurately diagnose dry eye disease and to monitor the effectiveness of treatment.
  • Quick and easy: OCT is a quick and easy procedure. It typically takes only a few minutes to complete. This makes it a convenient option for patients who are short on time.
